Bio:
"Already leaving a big mark," "I don’t know much yet about this lady, but the 'buzz' makes me suspect the best," "singer-songwriter from American origin, who clearly is a big talent," "I’ve just found me the European Taylor Swift," are just some of the things people have written about Kayleigh so far. Drawing on different influences from the heartfelt story telling style of Jewel to the new country/pop sing-a-long hooks of Taylor Swift, combined with a "horns up" attitude.
Born and raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, USA, Kayleigh began her musical journey singing in church with her dad. Picking up the guitar in high school she began her steps into the singer/songwriter genre building her chops both lyrically and musically.
Leaving Pittsburgh she headed to the bright desert lights of Las Vegas to study Music Theatre at the University of Las Vegas. Using her skills learned in singing and acting she honed her stage presence by fronting several successful pop and show bands through her years in Las Vegas.
Her life took a sudden turn, leading her back to Pennsylvania where she worked and lived above a coffee shop. Here she began writing and performing her own music acoustically in that same coffee shop. Needless to say, business began to “perk up” for the proprietor of the establishment! The owner and many others in the small town of Clarion, PA became enthusiastic supporters of Kayleigh. This experience helped solidify Kayleigh’s destiny and following her departure from Clarion University; she packed up her bags and eventually followed her heart to the Netherlands.
New to the Netherlands, Kayleigh got her feet wet in the Dutch music scene with a stint in a local cover band, before focusing on her own material. In 2008 Kayleigh introduced her first original material and quickly became a well-known name in the local and national music scene due to her vocal ability and song-writing prowess. Her first year in the Dutch music scene turned out to be very successful with performances in venues like the famous 013 Tilburg, Mezz Breda as well as several festivals including Liberation Day Festival in Zwolle and Koetstock Festival. To top it all off Kayleigh made two appearances on the Sander Guis show on 3FM, performing an acoustic set for a national audience.
In January Kayleigh introduced a brand new demo called “Time”. This demo was recorded in December 2009 in Nashville, TN with veteran Nashville producer Chip Hardy. It features three original songs: Run Without You, Time and Together. Her music has drawn comparisons to both Ilse de Lange and Taylor Swift with the heartfelt sound of Jewel. While being influenced by these talented artists she has a fresh new sound due to a mix of not only country and pop but with a love of rock, her unique warm vocals and commercial sing-a-long song writing ability.
At present, Kayleigh is hitting the road acoustically to promote her music in preparation for hitting the festival scene in 2010 with a brand new stage show.
One thing is certain; Kayleigh Leith is a young woman with the desire and determination to succeed. An engaging personality, one part sweet, one part sassy, mixed generously with a warm and expressive voice and a strong stage presence and you will understand why they say "good things come in small packages
